Bio
Maurizio Pollini is an Italian classical pianist born in Milan in 1942. He won the International Chopin Piano Competition in 1960 at age 18 and went on to become one of the most respected interpreters of Beethoven, Chopin, and 20th-century composers. Known for his technical precision and intellectual approach, Pollini has recorded extensively for Deutsche Grammophon. His discography includes landmark cycles of Beethoven sonatas and Chopin études. He has collaborated with conductors such as Claudio Abbado and maintained a long association with the Berlin Philharmonic.
