Christophe Rousset

Bio

Christophe Rousset is a French harpsichordist and conductor renowned for his interpretations of Baroque and early music. Born in Aix-en-Provence in 1961, he studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he won first prize in harpsichord. In 1991 he founded Les Talens Lyriques, an ensemble dedicated to rediscovering and performing 17th- and 18th-century repertoire with historical instruments. As both soloist and conductor, Rousset has recorded extensively for labels such as L'Oiseau-Lyre, Erato, and naïve, earning acclaim for his work with composers including Rameau, Lully, Handel, and Mozart. His performances combine scholarly research with expressive vitality, and he regularly appears at major festivals and opera houses across Europe.
