Buck Owens

Bio

Buck Owens (1929–2006) was an American country singer, guitarist, and bandleader whose crisp Telecaster sound and tight Bakersfield Sound helped define West Coast country in the 1960s. With his band the Buckaroos, he scored twenty-one number-one hits, including the classics “Act Naturally,” “Together Again,” and “I’ve Got a Tiger By the Tail.” Owens later became a television personality as co-host of the long-running variety show Hee Haw, broadening country music’s national audience while continuing to record and perform into the 1990s.
