808 State is an English electronic music group formed in Manchester in 1988. The band emerged from the city's acid house scene and became known for blending house, techno, and breakbeat styles. Their 1989 single "Pacific State" brought them mainstream attention and helped define the early British rave sound. Over the following decades the group released several influential albums and continued to evolve their sound while remaining active in electronic music.
