John Anderson is an American country music singer-songwriter born in Apopka, Florida, in 1954. He emerged in the late 1970s with a traditional country sound that stood out during the urban cowboy era, scoring early hits such as "She Just Started Liking Cheatin' Songs" and "1959." Anderson achieved his greatest commercial success in the early 1980s with the chart-topping single "Swingin'," which became one of the most-played country songs of the decade.
