Midge Ure is a Scottish musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer best known for his work in the new wave and synthpop genres. He first gained prominence as the frontman of Ultravox, contributing to the band's shift toward electronic music in the early 1980s. Ure co-wrote the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with Bob Geldof, which became one of the best-selling singles in UK chart history and helped launch the Live Aid initiative. Throughout his solo career, he has released several albums blending synth-driven pop with introspective songwriting, maintaining a presence in the British music scene since the 1970s.
