Bio

Zubin Mehta is an Indian conductor renowned for his long association with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, where he served as music director for life. He has also held principal positions with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic, and has conducted many of the world’s leading orchestras on both the concert and opera stages. Born in Mumbai in 1936, Mehta studied at the Vienna Academy of Music before launching an international career that has taken him to the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, and the major festivals of Salzburg, Lucerne, and Florence. His extensive discography spans symphonic repertoire, opera, and cross-genre collaborations, and he remains one of the most recorded classical artists of his generation.
