Bio
Jeru The Damaja is an American rapper and producer from Brooklyn, New York, known for his contributions to the East Coast hip hop scene. He first gained recognition in the early 1990s through collaborations with DJ Premier and Gang Starr, appearing on tracks such as "I'm the Man" and "Speak Ya Clout." His debut album, The Sun Rises in the East (1994), produced entirely by Premier, is regarded as a classic of the boom bap era. His follow-up, Wrath of the Math (1996), continued his reputation for sharp lyricism and socially conscious themes. Jeru has maintained an independent career, releasing subsequent projects while remaining an influential figure in underground hip hop.
