Bio
Judy Mowatt is a Jamaican singer-songwriter best known as one of the original members of the I Threes, the vocal trio that provided backing harmonies for Bob Marley & The Wailers. Born in Jamaica in 1952, she began her career in the 1970s with the group The Gaylettes before establishing herself as a solo artist in the roots reggae and lovers rock genres. Her solo work, including the acclaimed album Black Woman (1980), blends spiritual themes with social commentary and helped cement her reputation as a pioneering female voice in reggae. Mowatt has also recorded in the Christian reggae style, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to conscious music throughout a career spanning more than four decades.
