Bio
Stephen Kovacevich is an American classical pianist and conductor born in 1940 in San Pedro, California. He studied with Dame Myra Hess in London and made his professional debut in 1961. Kovacevich is noted for his interpretations of Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, and has recorded extensively for Philips and EMI. He has performed with major orchestras worldwide and conducted the London Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony. His recordings include complete cycles of the Beethoven piano sonatas and concertos.
