Anaïs Mitchell is an American singer-songwriter and playwright born in Montpelier, Vermont, in 1981. She is best known for creating the folk-opera musical Hadestown, which began as a concept album before becoming an acclaimed stage production. Her work often blends elements of traditional folk, Americana, and theatrical storytelling.
