Gaby Casadesus (1901–1999) was a French pianist renowned for her interpretations of the French and Russian repertoire. Born Gabrielle L'Hôte in Marseille, she studied at the Paris Conservatoire, where she won first prize in piano at the age of sixteen. She married the pianist Robert Casadesus in 1921, and the couple frequently performed together as a duo, championing works by composers such as Fauré, Debussy, and Ravel. Throughout her long career, Casadesus appeared as a soloist with major orchestras and gave numerous recitals across Europe and the United States. She was also an influential teacher, serving on the faculties of the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her recordings, particularly of French piano music, remain valued for their clarity, elegance, and fidelity to the composers' intentions.
