Jeanette (born Jeanette Anne Dimech, 10 October 1951) is a Spanish singer of British birth who rose to fame in the 1970s with a string of melodic pop ballads. Her breakthrough came with the 1974 single “Porque te vas,” which became an international hit and remains one of the best-known Spanish-language songs of the decade. Subsequent releases such as “El Muchacho de los Ojos Tristes” and “Corazón de Poeta” consolidated her status as a leading figure in Spanish pop, noted for her clear, emotive vocal style and introspective lyrics.
