Bio
András Schiff is a Hungarian-born British classical pianist and conductor. Born in Budapest in 1953, he studied at the Franz Liszt Academy before moving to London in the late 1970s. Schiff is renowned for his interpretations of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, and has recorded complete cycles of the major keyboard works of these composers for Decca and ECM. He regularly appears as soloist and conductor with leading orchestras worldwide and is noted for his thoughtful programming and advocacy of lesser-known repertoire. Schiff was knighted in 2014 and continues an active international career based in the UK and Italy.
