The Beloved are a British electronic music group formed in Cambridge in 1983. Originally a post-punk band, they evolved into a dance-oriented act and became known for their synth-pop and house-influenced sound during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their breakthrough came with the 1989 single "The Sun Rising," which reached the UK Top 40 and helped establish their reputation for atmospheric, sample-based tracks. The group continued to release music into the 1990s, blending electronic production with melodic songwriting.
