Bio
Bing Crosby was an American singer and actor whose smooth baritone voice defined popular music from the 1930s through the 1950s. He pioneered the use of the microphone in popular singing, creating an intimate style that influenced generations of vocalists. Crosby starred in dozens of films, most notably the Road pictures with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, and won an Academy Award for Best Actor for Going My Way (1944). His recording of "White Christmas" remains one of the best-selling singles of all time. Beyond entertainment, Crosby was an early investor in magnetic tape recording technology and helped popularize its use in the music industry. He continued performing and recording until his death in 1977.
