Bio
Thelma Houston is an American R&B and soul singer best known for her 1977 disco hit “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Born in Leland, Mississippi, she began her career in the late 1960s with Motown Records, releasing several singles before achieving mainstream success with the disco-era classic. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s she continued to record dance-oriented material and ballads, maintaining a presence on the R&B charts while also performing in musical theater and contributing to film soundtracks.
