Bio

Eric Burdon is an English singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the Animals and later War. Born in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1941, he rose to prominence in the 1960s British Invasion with hits such as "The House of the Rising Sun" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." After leaving the Animals, Burdon joined the funk-rock band War in 1969, co-writing and performing on tracks like "Spill the Wine" and "The World Is a Ghetto." His powerful, blues-inflected voice and socially conscious lyrics have kept him active as a solo artist and collaborator across six decades.
