Bio
Chris Cornell (1964–2017) was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known as the lead vocalist of Soundgarden and Audioslave. Born in Seattle, Washington, he rose to prominence in the late 1980s as part of the emerging grunge movement, becoming one of its most distinctive voices. Cornell's powerful vocal range and introspective lyrics helped define the sound of Soundgarden's albums such as Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. Beyond his work with Soundgarden, Cornell fronted Audioslave and maintained a successful solo career, releasing albums like Euphoria Morning and Higher Truth. He also contributed to film soundtracks, notably writing and performing the Academy Award-nominated song "You Know My Name" for the James Bond film Casino Royale. Cornell's influence on rock music and his vocal style continue to be celebrated following his death in 2017.
