Bio
Ruben Studdard is an American R&B and gospel singer who rose to fame after winning the second season of American Idol in 2003. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, to American parents, he was raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where he began singing in church choirs and developed his distinctive baritone voice. Following his Idol victory, Studdard released his debut album Soulful, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned platinum certification. He has since released several albums blending R&B and gospel influences, maintaining a career that spans both secular and Christian music markets.
