Bio
Pery Ribeiro (1937–2012) was a Brazilian singer and composer from Rio de Janeiro, recognized for his contributions to bossa nova and Brazilian jazz. He was the son of renowned singer Dalva de Oliveira and composer Herivelto Martins, and began performing professionally in the 1950s. Ribeiro became known for his smooth vocal style and interpretations of classic Brazilian songs, including the first recording of the bossa nova standard "Garota de Ipanema" (The Girl from Ipanema) in 1962. Throughout his career, he recorded numerous albums blending bossa nova, jazz, and traditional Brazilian seresta, establishing himself as a significant figure in mid-20th century Brazilian popular music.
