Bio
John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer whose work profoundly shaped modern jazz. Emerging in the 1950s, he first gained prominence as a member of Miles Davis's quintet and Thelonious Monk's quartet before leading his own groups. His technical mastery on the tenor and soprano saxophones, along with his innovative harmonic concepts, helped define the hard bop and modal jazz movements. Throughout the 1960s, Coltrane pushed jazz boundaries further with albums like "A Love Supreme," exploring spiritual themes and freer improvisational structures. His evolving style encompassed bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, and avant-garde free jazz, influencing generations of musicians across multiple genres.
