Bio
Elliott Smith was an American singer-songwriter known for his intimate, melancholic acoustic style and introspective songwriting. Emerging from the Portland, Oregon indie scene in the early 1990s, he gained wider recognition with albums like Either/Or and his Academy Award-nominated song "Miss Misery" from the Good Will Hunting soundtrack. His work often explored themes of depression, addiction, and emotional vulnerability, delivered in a hushed vocal style over fingerpicked guitar. Smith released five studio albums before his death in 2003 at age 34, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence contemporary indie and folk artists.
